Reflection on the Fall Equinox 2025

The First day of Fall this year is September 22, 2025. The Fall equinox has a significant spiritual meaning. For many the fall of the calendar year means to many older people the fall of their lives. A time of reflection and a time of hope and looking forward. Across cultures and traditions, the Fall Equinox, also called Mabon in some traditions, has always been a sacred moment. Ancient people built monuments to mark the sun’s balance point in the sky. Farmers used it to honor the harvest and prepare for the darker season. Spiritually, it’s been a time to reflect on what we’ve gathered, what we’ve grown, and what we’re ready to release. The Fall Equinox spiritual meaning reminds us that we need both light and dark, rest and action, receiving and giving. Without balance, we lose our center. The Fall Equinox is also the season of harvest. In ancient times, it was when communities gathered the last crops, celebrated abundance, and gave thanks for what the earth had provided. On a soul level, this is your harvest too. Look back at the year so far. What have you planted, nurtured, and brought to life? Gratitude is the spiritual way of “bringing in the harvest.” When you pause to acknowledge what you’ve received, you tell your soul: I see the goodness here. I honor it. I welcome more. Spiritually gratitude and abundance are tied together. When you have one you increase your ability to have the other.

In scripture the importance of God’s creation was recognized:

Romans 1:20 King of Kings, I am in awe of Your divine nature. Since the creation of the world, Your invisible qualities – Your eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen.

You have allowed us to perceive Your glory through the beauties within creation, including the Autumn Equinox. I thank You for enabling us to understand You from what has been made, so that we are without excuse and cannot deny Your beauty. Thank You Lord, Amen.

Prayer of Gratitude for Creation’s Turning Creator of seasons and stars, As the sun crosses the celestial equator, We pause to honor Your artistry in the turning of time. Let the golden leaves and cooling winds Be signs of Your faithful presence. Teach us to embrace change with grace, To release what no longer serves, And to trust in the quiet work of renewal. May our hearts mirror the balance of this day Held between light and shadow, Rooted in Your eternal love.   Amen
